Born on 12 July 1956, Vandana Luthra is from the country’s capital Delhi. Her father was a mechanical engineer and mother was an Ayurvedic doctor, who used to run her own organization. Vandana got to learn about healthcare from her mother, due to which she also thought of doing something similar. After completing her schooling, Vandana did polytechnic.
Went abroad and studied fitness and lifestyle
After completing her studies, she explored many countries around the world and later went to Germany and studied “Cosmetology and Nutrition”. After this study, Vandana understood that not much research has been done on fitness, nutrition and beauty in India and Indians pay very little attention to this.
The 1980s were very important for Vandana Luthra, she did a lot of work in this field. Along with this, she also married Mukesh Luthra in 1988. After marriage, both of them together started VLCC (Vandna Luthra Curls and Curves) in 1989. It was then a beauty and wellness service center, which was started in Safdarjung area of Delhi. Where solutions were given to problems related to fitness, skin, body and haircare.
Starting with 20 thousand, she built a company worth thousands of crores
Vandana invested 20 thousand in 1989 to start this company, but today it has become a company worth more than ₹2225 crores. Today VLCC is present in 12 countries around the world and has made its place as a trusted brand. With this business model, she spread awareness about health and beauty among people across the country.
In the year 2013, she was awarded Padma Shri for her work, in 2016 she was included in the list of 50 powerful businesswomen in Forbes Asia’s list. From 2011 to 2015, she was continuously included in the list of 50 powerful women in Fortune magazine. This success of Vandana Luthra is an inspiration for the whole country today.
