The Vision of Malvika Gour and Jehan Kothari
The New Wave Art Initiative, an extraordinary art exhibition by VEVA ART, successfully launched at The Park Hotel, Connaught Place. The event showcased the remarkable artistic talents of India’s defense personnel, offering a unique narrative of creativity, resilience, and expression that transcends the uniform.
Inaugurated by Delhi Transport Minister Mr. Kailash Gahlot and Mrs. Asha Bhaduria, wife of the former Chief of the Air Force, the event was a powerful celebration of the creativity and resilience of those who serve our nation. The exhibition featured 50 emerging artists, many of whom are members of India’s defense forces—Army, Navy, and Air Force—highlighting untold stories of discipline, emotion, and service, all expressed through the medium of art.
Driven by the vision of co-founders Malvika Gour and Jehan Kothari, the initiative was a resounding success, fostering diversity in the arts and bridging the gap between the defense community and the creative world. The event attracted several high-profile attendees, including defense officers, their spouses, and renowned artists such as Sudip Roy, Laxman Aelay, and Renu Shahnawaz Hussain, who were all appreciated by their community. Many of the participating artists, including Rachna Bajaj and Suruchi Jamkar, were present at the gallery to engage with attendees. The art exhibition is curated and mentored by Raju Sutar.
Malvika Gour and Jehan Kothari passionately led the initiative, with the art exhibition curated and mentored by Raju Sutar. According to the co-founders, the defense sector holds immense creative potential that deserves greater recognition.
The New Wave Art Initiative will continue to run at the Creativity Art Gallery in Hauz Khas Village, New Delhi, until October 13, 2024. Art lovers and enthusiasts are encouraged to visit the exhibition between 11 am and 7 pm to witness the remarkable works of defense artists alongside emerging talents from civil services and other sectors.
