In anticipation of International Women’s Day, the city-based organization Pancham Nishad Creative presents “Saanjhi” – an enchanting evening of semi-classical and folk melodies celebrating the essence of womanhood. This uplifting event will take place on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the esteemed Nehru Centre Auditorium, Worli, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Raising Awareness for Girl Child Education in Rural India
As part of the evening’s ethos, “Saanjhi” also aims to shed light on the critical need for education in rural India. In collaboration with AIM for Seva, an NGO dedicated to this cause, the event endeavors to support the campaign for girl child education in rural areas. AIM for Seva, in association with Pancham Nishad, initiated its Mumbai campaign at the Gateway of India in January 2023, and now continues its efforts through “Saanjhi.”
A Melodic Journey of Celebration
“Saanjhi” promises an immersive experience, celebrating India’s diverse musical heritage through the talents of distinguished female artists. Renowned vocalists Indrani Mukherjee and Devaki Pandit will grace the stage, representing different regions of India and delivering captivating performances rooted in tradition.
Accompanying these esteemed vocalists will be a lineup of exceptional musicians, including Ramkumar Mishra, Vinay Mishra, Ojas Adhiya, Amogh Dandekar, Kamlesh Bhadkamkar, Sagar Sathe, and Sandeep Mishra, ensuring an evening of soul-stirring melodies.
Honoring the Legacy of Women
More than just a musical event, “Saanjhi” pays homage to the legacies of legendary women across India. Through folk music forms like Hori, Kajri, Baramaasa, Jhula, and Chaiti, the concert offers a profound exploration of femininity within cultural traditions.
Perspectives from the Artists
Devaki Pandit expresses, “Celebrating womanhood is acknowledging the profound influence women hold in shaping our cultural landscape. Through ‘Saanjhi,’ we illuminate this spirit, inviting all to join us in this melodic tribute.”
Indrani Mukherjee reflects, “In the tunes of ‘Saanjhi,’ we find the heartbeats of our culture pulsating with the essence of womanhood, honoring the resilience and beauty found in every note.”
