Josh Inglis and Nathan McSween Join Australia’s Squad for First Test Against India

Australia has revealed its squad for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, set to take place in Perth. The 13-member team includes two new faces, one of whom, 25-year-old opener Nathan McSween, is poised to make his Test debut. According to Australian media reports, McSween is likely to partner with Usman Khawaja at the top of the batting order. Additionally, wicketkeeper-batsman Josh Inglis has earned a spot, marking a surprising inclusion, though his chances of being in the playing XI remain uncertain.

Why Nathan McSween Was Selected

McSween’s selection as an opener was anticipated due to his standout performance against India A, where he topped the scoring charts. He amassed 166 runs at an average of 55.33 in the two-match series, outperforming other contenders. His inclusion was also backed by Australian cricket stalwarts such as Ricky Ponting and Tim Paine, further solidifying his place in the squad.

Josh Inglis Rewarded for Sheffield Shield Performance

Josh Inglis has earned a place in the Test squad following his impressive performances in the Sheffield Shield tournament. Although his selection was unexpected, it reflects the Australian selectors’ recognition of his domestic success. However, competition for a spot in the final XI could limit his chances of playing in the Perth Test.
