Bank Holidays: Good days have come for bank employees, now they will get 2 holidays per week.

In response to a question in the Rajya Sabha during the winter session on Tuesday, the government itself said that now bank employees working in the public sector will have two days off weekly. That means all Saturdays in the month will be a holiday. This proposal was discussed in Rajya Sabha. It is being told that this proposal will be implemented soon. At present there is a holiday on second and fourth Saturday.

Sensing the work pressure of bank employees, the government has had to take this decision. Let us tell you that the Indian Bank Association, the management body of the country’s public sector banks, has already submitted a proposal to the government to declare all Saturdays as holidays in banks. The government itself has given this information in response to a question asked in the Rajya Sabha during the winter session of Parliament.

Received proposal for 5 day working week

Rajya Sabha MP Sumitra Balmik had questioned the Finance Minister about working in the bank for five days. Responding to which, Minister of State for Finance Bhagwat Karad said that the Indian Bank Association has submitted a proposal to the government to declare holiday in banks on all Saturdays. The Minister of State for Finance definitely said that under the agreement signed between IBA and bank unions on 28 August 2015, a decision was taken to declare holiday in banks on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. However, nothing can be said yet regarding when the decision will be implemented.

Will the salary also increase?

According to the information, it is believed that there are indications of increase in the salaries of bank employees in the second or third week of December 2023. Besides, 5 days work will also be implemented. Let us tell you that the ongoing talks between bank unions and IBA regarding the 12th bilateral settlement regarding salary hike are in their final stages. Along with the increase in salary, announcement of 5 days working in banks and holiday on Saturday can be made simultaneously.
